Our Engagement
To be honest I ruined his proposal. But I think that’s what makes it funny.
Anyways, we had been out at the gun range all morning. I was cold and tired and a bit cranky. We went out to lunch and I was ready to go home and rest before our double-date with an old teacher of mine. On the way home he asked if I wanted to go to a park. He told me that at the park there was a castle that he wanted me to see, but we would have to go off the trail a bit. I said ok and we drove over there.
We started walking through the woods. My boots were covered in mud and every time Jared would walk through branches they would snap back and hit me. At one point I told him I really had to go to the bathroom and he asked if I could just hold it or go in the woods. I can’t pee in the woods so I decided to hold it. But as we kept walking I REALLY had to go. Finally we got to the fence that we had to cross to get to the castle. It had a big sign that said “NO TRESPASSING.” I told him I just wanted to leave. I was cold, messy, had to pee and I didn’t want to get in trouble for trespassing.
He seemed really upset and I didn’t understand why it was a big deal. While we were walking to the car he said he needed to tie his shoe because he kept stepping on his laces. I looked down and said, “Are you retarded? Your shoe laces are tied.” He continued to untie and then tie his laces. He took my hand while he was on his knee and said, “I love you…” I said, “I love you too, now come on I am about to wet my pants!!” He went on about how much he loved me and how he knew I was the one for him, and I just kept telling him to stop joking around and let’s go! I’m terrible. I should have seen it coming.
I looked down and saw he had my ring on his pinky and I started to cry. That’s when he asked me to marry him and of course I said yes!!!
He said he wanted to propose in front of the castle but I had to pee so it didn’t work. I felt bad but we laugh about it now. I look back on the story and just laugh and think of how typical it is of us. It’s cute and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Now time to plan the wedding!!
